Connect your domain
Connect your domain with GoDaddy
Your domain is managed in GoDaddy. You will copy the Type, Name, and Value Droply shows you into the matching boxes on GoDaddy's DNS page.
The record you are adding
Droply shows your exact record on the Domains page of your dashboard. It looks like this (copy your own values from there):
or
@ for the root
customers.droply.id
Steps in GoDaddy
The words in bold are exactly what to look for and click in GoDaddy.
- Go to godaddy.com and sign in, then click your account name in the top right and choose My Products.
- Under Domains, open the Portfolio tab to see your domains.
- Find your domain, click the three dots ... next to it, and choose Edit DNS.
- On the DNS page, scroll to the Records section and click Add New Record.
- Open the Type menu and pick the type Droply shows you (for example CNAME or TXT).
- In the Name box, enter the label Droply gave you (for example
blog), and in the Value box paste the target Droply shows you (the one above). - Leave TTL on its default of 1 Hour unless told otherwise.
- Click Save (if you added more than one record, click Save All Records).
Good to know
- Name field = label only. Type just the prefix without your domain, so
blog, notblog.yourdomain.com. GoDaddy adds the rest. - For the root domain, enter
@in the Name box.@means your domain by itself, with no prefix. - GoDaddy does not allow a CNAME on the root
@domain. If Droply asks you to point the bare domain, use thewwwrecord (or the alternate record Droply provides) instead. - Add each record Droply shows as its own separate entry, and do not delete your existing records unless Droply tells you to.
- Changes usually go live within an hour but can take up to 48 hours to fully update, so wait a bit before checking.
After you save
That is the only step on your side. DNS changes take a few minutes to spread across the internet (sometimes up to an hour). You do not need to do anything else: Droply checks automatically and turns your domain live the moment it is ready, with HTTPS set up and renewed for you forever. Grab a coffee and come back in a bit.
